The USA Sprints South Florida’s # 1 Dirt Sprintcar Organization will make their 1st ever visit to the action packed Ocala Speedway in Ocala Florida Saturday Night October 1st . This will mark the 12th race on pavement for the 2005 Southern Thunder Tour season for the South Florida Sprintcar Series. The races have been very exciting thus far as stated by the fans and Track owners. Many of the drivers and Teams are now getting a handle on pavement racing and the lap times and quality of racing has shown just that.
There have been 3 different Winners thus far in 2005 with Scotty Adema, the "Fort Myers Flash", who is known as a pavement specialist, taking top honors 9 times. Along with Adema "Tiny" Tim George, multi time East Bay Champ who was Winner of the first race at Hialeah Speedway will make his first visit there as well along with Dennis "D-Man" Misuraca from Sanford who won at Citrus County. George will also take his narrow point lead over RC Roper into Saturday the night affair at the 1/2 mile speedplant. Adema has shown brilliance thus far and has the rest of the drivers doing overtime in the race shops to play catch up.
Word has it that many of the States top drivers are also planning on attending Ocala. Current Eastbay regulars Donnie Maxwell, the Ford driver from Tampa along with Danny Jones in the Mike Woolsey owned beautiful # 99 are expected. This weekend’s race will definitely have many wondering who will step up and challenge for the next win. Speculation has it that Bruce "Rocketman" Durden from Jacksonville is making plans on attempting his first ever pavement race along with "Mean Gene" Lasker from Tampa. Durden and Lasker are always front runners no matter where they show up to race. Up and coming FSCA Standout and current points leader Wes Scrape from Orlando along with Mike Love of Ocala will be making their first starts as well.
Other USA regulars that will be expected to run up front are RC Roper "The Racin Cowboy", Sean "Zippy" Namor, and Mike Hollywood Schroeder from SW Ranches Florida. Up and coming "Young Guns" Dakota Stevens and Michael Smith are in a heated Rookie Points battle and will be on hand. Both Rookies have shown brilliance thus far with steady top 10 performances and now sit in 4th & 6th places in the overall Championship Points. The 2003 USA Sprints Champion Shane Kriedler will make his return after several strong efforts but no luck thus far on the pavement. The Danny "Coach" Kriedler/Chip Stick Team has also purchased a new J & J mount and will have that car ready very soon.
The USA Sprints have announced that Elaine Howell will be working with Chip Stick as co- Race Director for the remainder of the season. Bud Howell will remain as permanent head flagman. Mike Woolsey Sr. has come on board as head of the new tech team and will monitor the cars very closely. The New Hendry County Speedway is expected to be open for USA Sprints in December for practice as announced by track manager Ron Casey. The season will kick off sometime in January with big plans ahead.
Also next weekend an all new type of Racing Exhibition is planned and its called "The Motorfest 2005". This event is a multi faceted Motorsports exhibition and competition event that will take place at the Lee County Sports Complex on October 7th 8th and 9th and all USA Sprints Teams are invited to participate in the festivities. Monster Trucks, Mud Racing. Jet Skis are just some of the events planned.Call RC Roper for details at 239-872-0168. Hope to see everyone at Ocala this Saturday night October 1st at 7pm
