British F-3 National Class Points leader Salvador Duran will participate this weekend in last two races of the season, both two to be held at the 3.618-Km. Silverstone circuit.
Salvador currently has 268 points whilst his rival Barton Mawer has 244, with just 42 points in dispute -21 per race with fastest lap included the last round of British championship will be really exciting.
If Duran clinches the title, he will become the second Mexican driver to take it; the first to achieve it was Fernando Plata in 1989, when the series was named British Formula 3 Class "B". However, Duran would become the youngest Mexican to win the championship at 19 years old.
Fernando Plata said: "I'm so glad this chap is very close to winning the British Formula Three Class National Championship. When I won it, in those days the knowledge about racing in Mexico was poor and just a few people cared about our championship here (in Mexico); although in Europe it opened for me many doors that I never imagined. In this case, the main thing is that this young man is surrounded by the best available in Mexico, both in sportive and business matters."
Telmex-backed driver Salvador Duran said "Wednesday afternoon I will meet my team at the track. I like Silverstone very much, because I've already won [two races] there. Although the circuit I will race on this weekend is the short one, the international (3.618-Km.) and the one I raced on August is the Grand Prix one (5.139-Km.). In fact, there are many differences between them, only the first and last turns are the same. I like better the big circuit, but also the small one is nice and interesting, the latter wears out very much the tyres.
"I'm calm and focused. I feel confident on what I am doing, obviously I am nervous because this situation is not easy.
