Bratt presents successor with title

Outgoing BRSCC T-Car Champion Will Bratt was a special guest at Rockingham Motor Speedway, near Corby, on Sunday to present his successor, Adrian Quaife Hobbs, with the 2005 title. Will, who hails from Adderbury in Oxon, won the 2004 T-Car Championship after taking an incredible 14 wins from 18 race starts and so was only too happy to accept an invitation to present the champion’s trophy at the Northamptonshire venue. After taking a brace of victories over the weekend on Rockingham’s 2.25-mile Historic configuration, Quaife Hobbs became the youngest ever champion in the history of the category at just 14-years and eight months old.“It was an honour to be asked to present the new T-Car Champion with his trophy”, commented Will. “I’m very happy for Adrian as he certainly deserves the title and T-Cars is such an important series in helping develop a driver’s career at an early age.“The experience I gained during my time in the championship was invaluable and I look back on my T-Car races with a great deal of fondness. The championship is very professionally run and the atmosphere among competitors is fantastic. It’s a credit to the whole team behind it and I was delighted to be involved in the celebrations.” Winning the T-Car title is an impressive achievement and after Will’s triumphant season in 2004, he stepped-up to begin a career in single-seater racing by taking part in the world’s most competitive junior series, Formula Renault UK.His maiden season in the championship was certainly a rollercoaster ride but ended with the 17-year-old becoming Vice-Champion of the B4 Group Graduate Cup class and also finishing a highly respectable 15th overall in the main standings. While his education is still a major priority, Will studies as an Academic Scholar at Bloxham School near Adderbury, he’s also focused on being a part of the upcoming Formula Renault UK Winter Championship which takes place in November.“While the results of the last two races of the main season weren’t what we wanted”, said Will, “I know we really made some headway with the car’s performance and so I’m confident, if we have the budget to race in the winter series, we can make a few people sit up and take notice.“I know I have the pace to run within the top six and if we can enter the Winter Championship and enjoy a very strong run, it would set us up superbly well for the 2006 season.”
