Ingrams bad luck continues

Having initially entered the Bulldog Rally to gauge his pace against the MSA National Gravel series regulars, Jon Ingram was thwarted with mechanical gremlins in his rebuilt Ford Focus World Rally Car during the seventh and final round of the 2005 championship was based in Oswestry. The Altrincham rally driver suffered a first stage drama, when a turbo pipe came adrift and had to complete the stage with a significant lack of power. The offending item also caused the same problem in the second stage in Gartheiniog. Ingram and co-driver Ian Allsop still managed to stay in touch with the leaders and maintain a top ten place after two stages.Deeply frustrated with the lack of power, Ingram and Allsop headed into stage three Dyfi Main only to suffer the same problem again and again the pair had to endure the problem through stage four Pantperthog."It is like driving a Production Class Focus."  Ingram commented on reaching the second service of the day."We will have to get it sorted its painful. After driving out of an uphill hairpin in that stage, there was no power and had to stay in third gear for most of the uphill section."A telephone call to MSport in Corsica was required to get to the source of the problem and confirmed initial thoughts of a problem with the EGR valve. The valve replaced and Ingram felt confident he could finally show his worth. The Ford Focus engine management system had other plans and on the very next stage placed the engine in safe mode, which forced a complete lack of power and at the end of the stage, Ingram retired."We only wanted to see how we compare with the others in the series, but we haven't been able to do that today. We have not had one good clean run through any of the stages. It has been a very disappointing day. I owe a huge thanks to Dom Buckley IRS for supplying the EGR valve."To cap his run of bad luck, Ian Allsop announced his retirement from the sport to Ingram during the rally, due to work commitments. Jon is now unsure if his car will be ready for the Cambrian Rally on Saturday 5th November."It may be an early end to the season for me if the car is ready and I have a co-driver in place then it may happen. Although it may be better to prepare for next year"
