Never in the history of motor racing have so many women raced against each other in this male dominated sport.
64 wannabe women racing drivers will all race at Pembrey in South Wales on the 18th, 19th and 20th of November, to battle it out for one of four places in the 2006 National Formula Woman competition
It will be the girls first ever race experience, as they will only have gained their Motor Sport racing licence a few days before.
In 2004 over 10,000 women applied to be in the Formula Woman Championship and only 16 could race, which last year was screened on ITV1 before and after selected Formula 1 Grands Prix
2000 women have been assessed this year on their driving skills, fitness and determination, from this, 100 lucky applicants will be selected for the next stage of the eliminations. Channel 4 are producing a documentary where they are following four of the girls which will be screened in The New Year.
One hopeful who has just finished her assessment said "This really is so exciting, I desperately want to be in the final hundred so I get the chance to race at Pembrey and show everyone what I am made of!"
