Welsh rally star Kevin Davies comes full circle this weekend, as he celebrates a brilliant first 12 months of competition on the Cambrian Rally (November 5th). Davies contested his first special stage rally on the Llandudno based event exactly one year ago - finishing 3rd in class on his stage debut. Since then, Davies has gone on a meteoric rise to the top of the timesheets, as he arrives in town as the 2005 Silkolene 1400 National Rally Champion for class 'A5'.20 year old Kevin, from Llanfihangel-ar-Arth, has made exceptional progress since his first outing on the gravel stages of North Wales, having taken six class wins from six starts this season to wrap up the title on the Quinton Rally. With Llandysul's Emyr Jones as co-driver, the West Walian pair have been unbeatable all season long, and will be aiming for their seventh straight win on the final round of the series. In their EXL Windows, KJ's Eden Tours and David Harries and Co backed Nissan Micra Kit Car, the pair will look to build on the experience gained from contesting events across the UK this season, culminating in a class win on the recent Wales Rally GB, a round of the FIA World Rally Championship. The Geoff Jones Motorsport run crew enjoyed their first ever WRC event on home soil, and are now looking forward to ending the season on a high note, as they aim for one final class win in the Yokohama Tyres and Silkolene Oil backed Nissan:'It will be good to go back to the forests of North Wales one year later and see how it compares' said Kevin. 'Obviously last year I was quite nervous about doing the rally for the first time, and also I was very unfamiliar with the car. Things have changed a lot since then, and its amazing to thing how much progress we have made as a whole team. I feel so much more confident as a driver now, and Emyr's influence has always been extremely positive. We're both looking forward to a good run at the weekend, and I'd like to think we can mix it with some of the top BTRDA 1400 drivers for the overall results as well. Either way, our aim is to go there and try to make it a real clean sweep of class wins this year, and if we can achieve that, I think it is something that everyone associated with us this year can be very proud of - it will be a great way to end our first season.'
