The Astra Stages Rally will bring British Championship rallying back to the classic forests of North Wales on April 1st 2006, and there are exciting new developments for the Llangollen based event.After being a member of the British National Rally Championship for several years, the Vauxhall Motoring Club organised rally is looking forward to featuring a multitude of excellent championships on its 2006 event.  No less than four rallies will run within the umbrella of the Astra Stages Rally on the day, ranging from Historic to Welsh clubmen, and new for 2006, the British Rally Championship Masters and Stars of the Future categories.Based once again in the popular town of Llangollen, the Astra will use a traditional mix of stages.  Already the outline route is one to please competitors, taking them to the fast and flowing forest roads of the Clocaenog and Aberhirnant forestry complexes, with main service area being once more at Ruthin Farmers Market.The Astra Stages 2006 will comprise of four excellent individual rallies:- The Astra National Rally - Round One of the BRC Rally Masters, Welsh National Forestry and ANWCC Forest Championships.- The Astra Stars Rally - Round One of the BRC Stars of the Future Championship.- The Astra Historic Rally - Round Two of the BHRC Historic Championship (including both Post Historic and Classics), Welsh Historic, and ANWCC Historic Championships.- The Astra Clubmans Rally - Round of the ANWCC and Welsh Clubmans Rally Championships.Rally HQ for the popular event is once again the Royal International Pavilion in Llangollen, which will also continue to be the venue for both scrutineering, start, and of course, rally finish.Event Clerk of the Course Andy Kay was looking forward to a successful event next year:'This year's Astra Stages Rally was very good for all concerned and I think the vast majority of competitors enjoyed the event.  For next year we are delighted to welcome the British Rally Championship and its Rally Masters and 'Stars' categories.  Both were looking for a high quality forestry event in Wales for their opening round, and I am very pleased that the Championship organisers felt that the Astra Stages fitted the bill perfectly.  We'll be sticking to our tried and tested format for the rally, and I'm hoping it will be an excellent event, particularly with so much variety on show.  Plans are well underway for the event, so we just can't wait to get started now!'Competitor regulations for the Astra Stages Rally are planned for release in mid-January.  Competitors wishing to register their interest in receiving regulations should contact the Entries Secretary, Gwyneth Kay, by email - gsk@astrastages.co.uk
