Preparation ace Peter Slights is currently building two more Group 4 Escort Mk2s for the HRCR Classic Stage Rally Challenge. One of them is expected to appear alongside Slights' own car later this season on rounds of the Classic Challenge.Slights won the category on the Trackrod Rally last October as the Yorkshire ace returned to Escorts after a gap of 20 years. Now, the quality and presentation of that car has sparked demand from customers and more cars are under way at his workshop in York."One of them is being built for a customer and I may keep the other one myself," he says. "They will be identical to my current car and I can do car builds to order," says the boss of Slights Rally Sport. He displayed his car at the HRCR Open Day last weekend and generated further interest from potential customers.Slights intends to compete in his own car this season, but will fit rallies in around work commitments. "I'll do the Robin Hood Stages in March and hopefully a few more Classic rounds," says Slights. "I'd like to try and go abroad once or twice as well."
