The names and nationalities of all the teams set to take part in the Eurocup 2006 have been revealed. With thirty-seven cars confirmed, one team on the waiting list and four others that may compete as wild cards, the Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 2006 confirms its status as a benchmark championship.Once again, the world famous Eurocup FR 2.0 championship has all the ingredients to become the most successful junior championship in Europe.
2005 provided clear evidence of the high skill level of the drivers and an epic climax to the season which saw German driver Michael Ammermüller fight it out with Japanese driver Kamui Kobayashi, who took the title during a «crazy» weekend of racing in Monza.
With the hope of experiencing an even better season this year, the World Series by Renault organization is pleased to announce the list of teams confirmed for 2006.
The total number of cars entered in the Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 2006 is thirty-seven, although one team (Motaworld Racing) is hoping to join the championship with at least one more car, if not two.
Among the 2006 teams, from eight different countries, reigning champions SG Formula will try to defend their crown. Other top teams like Prema Power Team, Jenzer Motorsport, Cram Compétition and Motopark Academy will be once again be challenging for the title this year.
But the new edition of the Eurocup FR 2.0 will see some newcomers to the European grids as well. BVM Racing (Italy), MRD Motorsport Europe (Finland) and Twincam Motorsport (Spain) are the three new faces in 2006.
At the same time, four teams competing in the Formula Renault 2.0 national championships are interested in joining the Eurocup races as wild cards during the World Series by Renault meetings. These will be the SL Formula team (a third car), Euronova Racing, Manor Motorsport and Hexis Racing.
