Adderbury’s Will Bratt took no time at all to get back into the swing of things during testing at a freezing cold Donington Park yestday, the 17-year-old’s first outing in a Formula Renault UK car for three full months.Having finalised a deal to remain with Loughborough-based Scorpio Motorsport for the 2006 Formula Renault UK Championship season, Will’s appearance  was his first on track since last November’s winter series where he recorded career-best results.Although track conditions were not ideal due to the cold temperatures, Will enjoyed the day nonetheless and posted highly competitive times in relation to several front-running Formula Renault UK rivals who were also present at the Leicestershire venue.“It was a really good test and I was very pleased with my times”, commented Will after his first outing of the year in his Scorpio-run FR 2.0 car.“We ended up just a couple of 10ths of a second off the pace and we were using old rubber from last season so there was certainly more time to come. I didn’t have any problems getting back into the feel of things and I actually think it’s been quite positive having a fairly lengthy break away from any track activity.“But I’m glad to be back out in the car and I’m looking forward to the season. I’m delighted to be driving for Scorpio again this year. It’s a great team, we work well together and we’re confident we can build on what we achieved in the winter series.”Since the chequered flag fell on the last round of the 2005 Winter Championship, Will has been focusing on the vital final year of his A-levels. Having achieved the honour of being granted a provisional place to read History at the University of Oxford, the importance of his upcoming exams cannot be emphasised enough.Back on the track though, Will resumes testing at Snetterton in Norfolk next week with a two-day outing at Cheshire’s Oulton Park planned for later in the month. The first official pre-season Formula Renault UK Championship test will then take place at Will’s home circuit, Silverstone National, on 1st/2nd March.
