DESIGN YOUR DREAM STOCK CAR PAINT JOB FOR DISPLAY AT IMS WEB SITE
As the NEXTEL Cup Series season gets underway this month at Daytona, NASCAR fans are eager to see the new paint schemes on many cars.
But fans can do more than just talk about the paint jobs this year: They can design their own for the world to see indianapolismotorspeedway.com.
Fans can download a template of a NEXTEL Cup Series car, just like the machines that will race in the Allstate 400 at the Brickyard on Aug. 6 at IMS, create a design and submit it for posting in a public gallery at indianapolismotorspeedway.com. The designs can be viewed and rated by fans, with an overall average of the ratings calculated for each design.
A template of a race team transporter also is available and ready for fans’ designs.
Plain, line-art templates of a stock car and team transporter are available at the site in both .eps and .jpg formats. From there, one of a variety of commercial and free programs can be used to paint the car and transporter, such as Corel Paint Shop Pro, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Jasc PaintShop Pro, Microsoft Paint or GIMP.
Corporate logos and other art can be placed on the cars and transporters. Many logos can be found at www.brandsoftheworld.com.
Once a design is finished, it can be submitted at the IMS Web site for posting in the gallery. Rules for the designs are available at the Submit Your Design section of the site.
This design function is based on the Create A Design section with an IndyCar Series car at indycar.com and with a 1950s Indianapolis 500 roadster at indianapolismotorspeedway.com, both of which have been met with tremendous enthusiasm and nearly 600 submitted drawings combined.
