Euro GT Series at Truck GP events

The rolling thunder

The calendar 2006 of the Euro GT Series is ready. The series with its  roaring GT cars has shaped up an excellent event programme to  celebrate its revival.

The parade of race cars will be present at seven different international race  tracks in Germany, Belgium, Spain and France. Each event is a highlight in  its own right, the season start is at the GTP-Weekend in the German Eiffel  on April 14 – 16. The teams travel from the Nürburgring to Spa-Francor- champs for an event with the Le Mans Endurance Series on May 12 – 14.

June takes the Euro GT Series to Spain. At Albacete it will be the first time  that the Series teams up with the Truck GP. The race trucks, which thrash  along the asphalt like a herd of wild elephants, form the highlight of the  event together with the bellowing GT cars. Organiser and V8SuperSTAR pilot Pierre von Mentlen, who used to be behind the wheel of such a race mastodon, says: “The Truck GP is a unique event. The special atmosphere in the paddock, the show, the people, the race cars – it has something special, which you find nowhere else. I am looking forward to the truck weekends.”

Organiser Anja Hartman has done an excellent job adding some more highlights to the calendar. The Series will travel to Zolder and to the Eurospeedway Lausitz in July and to Dijon in September, and the season’s final will be at the Madrid Circuito Jarama on September 29 – October 1; once more together with the Truck GP.

The Euro GT Series 2006, in its first year back in business, travels around Europe with a full grid of more than 20 entries already at this moment, mainly in Classes EGT1 and EGT2, but also several guest teams. New entries are welcomed and organiser Hein Hartman says: “We accept all types of GT cars and I hope that we will have some more GT3 cars to get a good fray in this Class too.” It is likely that there are more candidate participants given the season entry fee of 7.000 Euros, which is unbelievably attractive.
