Island Life

The second round of the 2006 SuperBike World Championship comes from arguably the most famous venue the championship visits, the Phillip Island circuit near Melbourne, Australia. The 4.5km circuit sits on the edge of the ocean and provides breathtaking scenery. And because many teams test there over the winter and riders know every inch of the circuit, the racing is always spectacular. Immediately after the SuperBike and SuperSport races, the SuperBike TV Magazine program goes under the skin and behind the scenes with the people that make it happen.

The Road to Victory

The American NASCAR Busch series makes a trip south for the third round of the 2006 championship, to the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez in Mexico City. This year is the second time the NASCAR field races on the 2.5 mile road course. The 2004 Busch champion and 2005 race winner Martin Truex Jnr has stepped up to the Nextel class for 2006, so there’s the chance for another driver to add the second NASCAR foreign soil victory to their CV. As a result, competition is expected to be fierce.

The Inside Line

The first in the Inside Grand Prix series takes a preview look at the first round of the 2006 FIA Formula One World Championship, at the Sakir circuit in Bahrain. The start of the 2006 season will be full of changes; new engine and chassis regulations, the re-introduction of tyre changes, new teams and familiar drivers in new overalls. Inside Grand Prix looks at the key factors that will influence this weekend’s race at the state-of-the-art circuit in the middle of the Bahrain desert.

Trains and Plains

The third instalment of Nick Lera’s World Steam Train Classics travels to Jordan and Syria, riding on the Hedjaz railway, made famous by Lawrence of Arabia. Here, steam locomotives pull early 20th Century wooden carriages through the Zebadani Gorge and over viaducts as the program rides through the Middle Eastern desert.
