7,000 Citroen BHP liberated

A partnership that has put around 7,000 extra bhp through the wheels of the UK's modified Citroen Saxos is to launch exhaust manifolds and systems for its successor, the Citroen C2.

Galloway Motorsport from Newton Stewart in Scotland has been working with BTB Exhausts in Daventry, Northants, since the early 1990s and in the process put around 600 performance exhaust manifolds and systems on the road.

The C2 manifold and system are now available - stainless steel C2 manifolds and are retailing at £250 plus VAT, the 63.5mm stainless system for £399 plus VAT.

"We're a very experienced modifier of Citroens for road and race track, and after being initially very disappointed by the quality of some of the aftermarket and performance systems we sampled, we came across BTB and have never looked back," said John Dobson of Galloway Motorsport.

"We created a supercharger kit for the Saxo, but we couldn't find a system that could contain the noise while also maintaining the performance and reasonable longevity - we were taking Saxos from around 94bhp at the wheels to as much as 230bhp, and the systems were just getting torn apart.

"But the measure of the quality of the BTB systems is that not only do they maintain civilised noise levels and cope with the extra power, there is also a very strong second-hand market for them as well.

"The quality of construction and materials means that we have no hot spots, no burn-throughs - a thoroughly reliable system.

"BTB exhausts systems are premium products, but ion many cases they'll be operating perfectly long after the car reaches the end of its life."

Joe Ellis, Managing Director of BTB, said: "In many respects, Galloway Motorsport is our perfect partner: they know what their customers want - whether for road or motorsport - they give us clear technical briefs, and we work well together.

"The quantities we produce are such that we can maintain high standards, while producing a reasonable volume.

"If we do the maths, we estimate that our manifolds and systems have liberated around 7,000 bhp for Galloway's customers."
