Famous Sunbeam Lotus back in action

A well-known Talbot Lotus Sunbeam that has not been rallied for 20 years will return to competition in the HRCR Classic Stage Rally Championship this season.Adrian Seabridge has acquired the ex-Jeremy Barnes car and plans to campaign it in Classics, starting with this weekend's Robin Hood Forest Stages. Originally bought from the factory by Nigel Hollier, the car was rallied by Jeremy Barnes in the early 1980s, registered as 'JCB 333'. A top 10 result on the 1985 Manx was the car's last rally."I managed to prise it out of Jeremy's hands nine months ago, " says Seabridge who has not driven on a rally for 30 years. He has however, co-driven extensively, and partnered Rod Millen in the US in the 1980s."I tested the car at Sweet Lamb recently and it went very well, "says Stafford based Seabridge. "I'm looking forward to rallying it!" Having started competing in the late 1970s on road rallies, his last outing as a co-driver was the 2000 Rally of Wales."I always fancied a go at historic motorsport, but didn't want an Escort. I'm going out to enjoy myself and I just want to finish the first event." Seabridge will be co-driven by Paul Vass.
