British lady picked for Stade de France

The selections for the Motors TV Racing Team took place recently at the Abbeville circuit in the North of France. The ‘High Speed Television’ network is following through its promotion to offer two motor sport fans the opportunity to slide into the skin of a racing driver and compete in the Super Finale of the Andros Trophy at the Stade de France in Paris on 18th March 2006.

The selection was organised in partnership with the Stadium Automobile of Abbeville, cars being supplied by Gilles and Evens Stievenart.

Faced with atrocious weather conditions, the French and British finalists selected -15 men and five women – all took to the circuit in the morning in two Subarus and a Mitsubishi to see who came out on top, followed by an interview with a hand-picked jury. The afternoon featured a drifting workshop in BMWs.

The jury featured a number of experts, including racing drivers Evens Stievenart and Marguerite Laffite (Andros Trophy specialists) and Mathieu Zangarelli (French GT championship driver), as well as Jean-Luc Roy (Motors TV Chairman) and Jean-Michel Dewez (winner of the first edition of the Motors TV Racing Team for the Nürburgring 24 Hours).

After lengthy deliberations, Frenchman Vincent Marceau and British woman Kaye Whitehouse were selected to share the wheel of the sprint car that will grace the arena of the Stade de France in Motors TV livery.

In order to fine-tune the driving techniques and skills required of the Andros Trophy, both will participate at a test organised on the Saint Dié ice circuit of in the Vosges area, on Friday 3rd March.
