Disappointing result for Finlay/Valiante

CAUTION PLAGUED EVENT FINDS FINLAY AND VALIANTE FINISHING 17th MEXICO CITY,

The driving duo of Rob Finlay and Michael Valiante started the Mexico City 250 from the 21st position but had to settle for a 17th place finish.

Rob Finlay, driving the No. 28 Make-A-Wish/Z-Line Designs Ford-powered Crawford took the green flag earlier in only his third career Daytona Prototype start.

Finlay held his line and worked his way into the 19th position before bringing the car into the pits for the team’s scheduled stop. Finlay climbed from behind the wheel, as his teammate Michael Valiante took over the driving duties.

Valiante entered the course and was beginning to settle into the race when the No. 5 machine, driven by Scott Maxwell, squeezed the young Canadian off the course.  Contact was made but Valiante managed to get the car gathered and was running in 17th position when the checkered flag was displayed. As Valiante and Finlay continue to familiarize themselves with the team’s new package, the Finlay Motorsports team will start preparations for the next event at the Homestead-Miami Speedway March 23 – 25.

Driver Quotes:

Rob Finlay – “We didn’t exactly come away with the result that we were hoping for but the car did run pretty good today.  We managed to run some good lap times and will continue to get even stronger as the season progresses.”

Michael Valiante – “I’m not really sure what to say.  Rob did a really good job out there today and I was starting to move up through the field until we made contact with another car.  It definitely wasn’t the result that we were looking for but I guess we’ll have to accept it and move on to Homestead.”
