Ingram goes back to basics

Jon Ingram will contest the Rali Cwm Gwendraeth in preparation for his first appearance in Ireland on the Quality Hotels West Cork Rally. Jon who has not competed on asphalt for over fifteen years has made a tactical decision to visit the South Wales single venue event to get used to driving his Ford Focus World Rally car on the sealed surface. The appeal of the open airfield the better option to make his four wheel drive tarmac debut than the tight and twisty lanes of Ireland. The 2006 Get Connected! Wyedean Forest Rally winner will have a change of co-driver for the single venue event in the shape of Geoff Jones."I asked Geoff to co-drive for me on the rally. I have not rallied on tarmac since the Motoring News road rally days. This will be the first time in the Focus and will be good preparation for the West Cork the following weekend. Geoff has lots of experience so I am going to take in some driving lessons from him during the day but it should be a great laugh and should give me some extra confidence for Ireland."Ingram has now turned his attention to tarmac after returning to the sport two years ago. The Cheshire driver has no plans to contest any major championships this year. However, he may well contest further events in Ireland once he has completed the Quality Hotels West Cork Rally on March 18th & 19th. Ingram will be partnered by regular co-driver Ian Allsop for the Irish event. The Rali Cwm Gwendaeth takes place at Pembrey, South/West Wales on Sunday 12th March.
