Plough Lane Classic Banger Bash

Spedeworth South brings the Plough Lane Classic back to Wimbledon Stadium on Sunday, March 12th at 5pm. The event, open to under 1800cc National Bangers, was one of the highlights of the banger season from 1989 until its curtain call in 1997. The revived event is now in its second year and has been welcomed back to the calendar by fans.

While the choice of cars may be limited to under 1800cc, the level of full on racing, wrecking and general automotive mayhem will be unlimited as the drivers push their cars to destruction to add the prestigious title to their CV.

The night will end with a no-holds barred demolition derby ensuring that any cars that have made it through the night’s festival of automotive destruction will be sent to the scrap yard in the sky in fine style as the Banger pilots attempt to ensure that their car is the last one left moving on the track – a feat achieved by hammering the opposition as hard as possible and hoping that your car survives.

There will be more bent metal on the agenda when the armoured Stock Cars take to the track in Round 3 of the Seahaven Caravans series. The Foxy Dance Trophy, honouring one of the sport’s late, great drivers will also be up for grabs, so the bumpers will be going in at every opportunity when the green flag waves at Plough Lane.

With top National Banger racers set to do battle and the Stock Cars ready to rumble, the racing, wrecking, rollovers and crashing will be non stop from the second the first green flag drops to the last metal shredding moment of the demolition derby at Wimbledon Stadium, Britain’s finest oval racing circuit.
