Phil Hindley and Tech 9 Motorsport will mount a part campaign in the 2006 Porsche Carrera Cup GB.
Hindley unveiled his plans at the pre-season Carrera Cup test and media day at Silverstone on Monday (13 March). He will race one car himself and hopes to add a second car for a programme covering four of five of the 10 race weekends.
Hindley will dovetail the programme with the team's international GT racing programme, and hopes that the plan will lead to a full Carrera Cup campaign in 2007. "We're doing the new FIA GT3 series and so we can't do any more due to date clashes. I hope to run a professional driver in the other car," explained Hindley.
For Hindley, it will be a return to racing regularly after concentrating on developing the team for several seasons. "I haven't really done much racing in the last few years and it is good to be back! The new 997 GT3 Cup car feels really good," he said after a full day of testing at Silverstone.
It is likely that Tech 9 will contest the Carrera Cup race weekends at Thruxton, Croft, Snetterton and Silverstone and Hindley is hopeful of adding the races at his home track of Oulton Park.
