2.O Hot Rod European Championship

Spedeworth South plays host to the rapid 2.0 Hot Rods when the top drivers in the formula take to the track at Wimbledon Stadium to contest the Hot Rod Open Championship on Sunday March 26th at 5pm.

It takes skilled drivers to power the highly tuned non-contact machines around the famous Plough Lane circuit, with just inches to spare between the cars and the very unforgiving safety fence.  The grid of star drivers assembled to do battle for the European Championship are all too aware of the price that will be paid for a second’s mistake, as the cars touch close on 60 mph around the tight quarter mile oval track, but that will not stop them putting the pedal very firmly to the metal as they chase the European title.

The Ford Sierra based Lightning Rods will also be in action on the night. The powerful Lightning Rods’ sheer bulk makes overtaking a very difficult manoeuvre at Plough Lane. Despite the risks, the drivers will be pushing the big cars to the limit, with often catastrophic results, before the night’s racing is over.

Anyone aspiring to race a 2.0 Hot Rod in the future can cut their racing teeth in the Rookie Rods. These budget racers allow fans to get behind the wheel and experience the thrills of oval racing for a meagre outlay. Large grids and evenly matched cars always deliver exciting racing at Wimbledon.

The Superstox round what promises to be a great evening’s racing with the single-seater’s crowd pleasing blend of high speed, contact racing.

With four formulas in action and the chance to see the 2.0 Hot Rod European championship decided, Spedeworth South delivers another great night’s racing at Wimbledon Stadium, Britain’s finest stock car racing circuit.
