London - Silverstone Super Car Tour

The Opening Ceremony of the SILVERSTONE SUPERCAR SHOWDOWN, featuring The Royal Automobile Club Tourist Trophy - the British Round of the FIA GT Championship - 5/6/7 May 2006 As part of the thrilling all-new Silverstone Supercar Showdown this coming May, the event promoters - Silverstone Circuits, The Royal Automobile Club and SRO - are delighted to announce the introduction of an exciting opening ceremony for the first event of the 2006 season -  the London to Silverstone Supercar Tour, taking place on Friday 5 May.

Following a photocall outside the prestigious Royal Automobile Club in Pall Mall, an exclusive field of up to 50 stunning supercars will drive an 80 mile non-motorway route to Silverstone, before completing a lap of honour around the world famous Grand Prix circuit to signal the official opening of a breathtaking weekend of top motorsport action.

In addition, one supercar from the entry will be selected by the organisers to lead the assembly out of London,  and  transfer  the  historic  Royal  Automobile  Tourist  Trophy  to  Silverstone,  where  it  will  be awarded on Sunday 7 May to the winners of the first round of the 2006 FIA GT Championship.

The Silverstone Supercar Tour will be open to a limited number of 21st Century supercars, to fit in with the  general  theme  of  the  Silverstone  Supercar  Showdown  which,  in  addition  to  hosting  Britain’s  only round  of  the  FIA  GT  Championship  for  The  Royal  Automobile  Club  Tourist  Trophy,  will  also  feature races from Ferrari, Maserati and GT3.

Throughout the weekend there will also be a festival style display of  supercars  from  manufacturers  and  owners  clubs,  supported  by  an  array  of  family  entertainment including air displays, fun-fair and simulators. Entry  to  the  Silverstone  Supercar  Tour  will  cost  £195  per  car  including  driver  and  passenger,  which includes  breakfast  at The Royal Automobile Club, a pre-start photocall on Pall Mall, refreshments en route,  a  three  day  guest  pass  for  the  Silverstone  Supercar  Showdown,  participation  in  the  official opening  parade  lap,  access  to  an  exclusive  Silverstone  Tour  parking  enclosure  in  the  centre  of  the circuit, and many other extras.

Tickets  for  the  Silverstone  Supercar  Showdown  are  available  from  £10  for  the  Saturday  if  booked  in advance (£15 on the day) and £15 for the Sunday (£20 on the day).  A special advance Weekend Ticket will also be available for £20 (£30 if purchased at the event).  Plus the first 500 to book a weekend ticket in advance will receive a free pit lane walkabout pass for the Sunday morning. Hospitality suites, with spectacular trackside views, are also available for the Sunday from as little as £105.

Access for children aged 15 years and under, accompanied by an adult, will be free of charge, while parking, grandstand seating, paddock access and centre transfer will also be included with a general admission ticket.
