Jordan quick in major BTCC test

Mike Jordan posted seventh fastest time in the major pre-season test ahead of the opening rounds of the 2006 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship at Brands Hatch yesterdayAll of the BTCC teams were at Brands for the important media day, which included three hours of exclusive testing in the afternoon. Jordan's Team Eurotech Honda Integra R was amongst the leading times throughout the test and only a clutch problem late in the afternoon prevented him from lapping even faster."It was actually quite frustrating," explained Jordan. "We lost the last 45 minutes of running after we hit a clutch problem and I think there was another three or four tenths of a second to come." Had he been able to complete the session in the John Guest and Pirtek-backed Honda, Jordan would have been with the pace of reigning champion Matt Neal, who topped the testing times."We were P3 for a while and we'd made some camber changes that were the right way to go, but it was then too late to change the clutch. Overall, I'm really pleased to be only just off Jason Plato's time and ahead of Fabrizio Giovanardi," he said. Jordan's best lap of 49.703s was seventh fastest on a day when half a second covered the top 10 cars. However, Jordan knew he could have gone even faster. "I can’t remember being so frustrated at the end of a test day; we should have been in the top three!"Nevertheless, his pace was very encouraging in the team's last major test session before the opening races at Brands Hatch on 9 April. He was also impressed with the BTCC media day. "It was a very professional day and you really feel part of something worthwhile," he said.
