BTCC & DTM live on Motors TV

Following the announcement of Motors TV’s exceptional broadcast schedule for the forthcoming Le Mans 24 Hours, the ‘High Speed Television’ channel now focuses on reinforcing its position as the best provider of Touring Car programming in Europe with the news that it will feature no less than THREE of the discipline’s major championships from around the globe.

In addition to the Australian V8 Supercars, Motors TV is pleased to announce that it has now also extended its existing partnership with the BTCC (British Touring Car Championship) and also with the DTM (Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters, Germany). These series will form a major part of Motors TV’s 2006 programming, with more than one hundred hours of live broadcasts!

Thanks to years of unforgettable battles on the race track, the British Touring Car Championship has earned itself a reputation as one of motorsport’s most exciting championships. Fantastic UK circuits where Honda, Seat and Vauxhall go head to head, represented by star drivers from home and abroad. In 2006 the Italian, Fabrizio Giovanardi, will be pitted against British stars and previous champions Matt Neal, Jason Plato and championship returnee James Thomson.

Each of the ten BTCC meetings will include three individual races and Motors TV will be broadcasting each and every one of them in their full length. Furthermore, Motors TV will also feature all of the support races, such as Formula Renault, Formula BMW, Seat Supra Cup, Porsche Carrera Cup and the Clio Cup – watch closely and you’ll see the Stars of Tomorrow!

The DTM championship needs almost no introduction. The spectacle of Germany’s finest car manufacturers engaged in titanic battles with high-profile, big-budget teams and world famous drivers has for many years attracted crowds in their tens of thousands to the races. This year the field will be made of entirely of Mercedes and Audi cars driven by superstars such as two-time Formula 1 World Champion Mika Häkkinen, ex-Ferrari F1 driver Jean Alesi, seven-time Le Mans winner Tom Kristensen, Grand Prix winner Heinz-Harald Frentzen and 2004 DTM champion Mattias Ekström – and two impressive lady drivers, British Susie Stoddart and daughter of legend Jacky Ickx, Vanina Ickx!

Qualifying will be live on Saturdays between 12.30 and 1.30pm. Race programming will start on Sunday at 12.45pm and coverage will be non-stop until 2.30pm.
