Day 1 in Valencia

Franck Montagny has set the quickest time in this afternoon's test for FMS International. Franck Montagny topped off a sensational one-off day as tester for the FMS International team by topping the timesheets in this afternoon's GP2 series test session at Circuit Ricardo Tormo, Valencia. The Frenchman was one of the first drivers on track after the lunch break and held the top spot for almost the entirity of the three hour session, constantly improving his times as the minutes passed.

Montagny headed an all-French top three this afternoon, with Nicolas Lapierre setting the second quickest time for Arden International, with Franck Perera third for Dams.

Montagny's time however did not beat the quickest time of the day, set by Lewis Hamilton in this morning's session. Indeed, Montagny's time of 1:19.918 was good enough only for the third quickest time overall behind the aforementioned ART Grand Prix car of Hamilton and his team-mate Alex Premat.  

In the afternoon session however, it was Jose Maria Lopez who came home fourth for Super Nova International, with Olivier Pla fifth for DPR Direxiv. Gimmi Bruni set the sixth quickest lap for Trident Racing, with Michael Ammermuller seventh for Arden International and Tristan Gommendy eighth for iSport International. The top ten was rounded out by Adrian Valles for Campos Racing, and Ernesto Viso for iSport.
