at British Grand Prix

Satellite stages to feature celebrity guest appearances in Entertainment Zones

Silverstone today confirmed that the world’s favourite rock and roll band, STATUS QUO, will be back to entertain F1 fans at this year’s GRAND PRIX PARTY (Sunday 11 June). The hugely popular post- race celebration, FREE to all race day ticket holders, will round off an unforgettable weekend of non- stop action and entertainment at the UK’s biggest motorsport event of the year – the 2006 FORMULA 1™ Foster’s British Grand Prix (9-11 June).

Attracting a record crowd of more than 18,000 in 2005, this year’s Grand Prix Party will feature a high octane blend of stars, cars and guitars on a spectacular open-air stage in the centre of the circuit. TV broadcaster and motorsport pundit Tony Jardine will once again lead from the front, chatting on stage to a host of high profile personalities from the world of F1. Last year fans were treated to a multitude of  guest  appearances  including,  among  others,  Jenson  Button,  David  Coulthard,  Jarno  Trulli, Christian Klien, Christijan Albers,  Honda Racing boss Nick Fry, and F1 greats that included Murray Walker, Sir Jackie Stewart and former British Grand Prix winner Johnny Herbert.

This  year  they  will  be  joined  on  stage  by  the  legendary  Status  Quo,  who  will  rock  the  Silverstone crowd with a set of all-time classics including ‘Rocking All Over The World, ‘Sweet Caroline’, ‘Down Down’, and dozens more.

In an exciting new development for this year, Silverstone has also announced that, in addition to the main  Grand  Prix  Party  stage  at  the  inside  of  Becketts,  three  satellite  stages  will  be  set  up  in Entertainment  Zones  located  behind  the  main  grandstands  at  Stowe,  Abbey  and  Pits  Straight. Silverstone  TV  will  be  broadcast  throughout  the  weekend  on  giant  screens  at  each  of  the  stages, which  will  also  feature  a  number  of  celebrity  guest  appearances,  fantastic  competitions  and  the England  vs  Paraguay  football  World  Cup  game  on  the  Saturday  -  all  building  to  the  big  show-biz finale on the main Grand Prix Party stage on Sunday.

Looking ahead to his return to Silverstone, Rick Parfitt from Status Quo said: “We had such a blast when we played for Grand Prix fans in 2003 - we can’t wait to do this again. We’re all big F1 fans and to meet the drivers and play at Silverstone was a massive buzz for us.”

Richard  Phillips,  Managing  Director  of  Silverstone  Circuits  Limited,  commented:  “The  Grand  Prix Party has become a firm favourite with fans at the British Grand Prix. Its unique blend of music and appearances  from  drivers  and  F1  personalities,  provide  fantastic  entertainment  for  the  fans  and  a perfect end to the British Grand Prix weekend. We expect a great turn out again this year and I’m sure fans will flock to the event.”

Further announcements about additions to the bill will be made in the weeks leading up to the event.
