Motor Racing Legends LIVE on Sky Sports

SKY SPORTS will follow the legends of motorsport in the new Grand Prix Masters World Series.

Grand Prix Masters features some of the biggest names from motor racing’s past, racing identical cars at world-renowned circuits.

The 5-race series begins in Qatar on Saturday 29 April and each of the five races will be broadcast exclusively live on Sky Sports.

Among the drivers taking part are five former Formula One World champions including Nigel Mansell, Alain Prost, Alan Jones and Emerson Fittipaldi.

Announcing the deal, Sue Ashworth of Sky Sports said; “GP Masters is a fantastic concept.  We’ve seen legends compete once again in sports like tennis, golf and football and this will be just as popular. The one-off race in the autumn proved a great success and was highly competitive.  Now young fans and those who followed the stars first time round have a chance to see them head-to-head at 200mph.”

The full line-up of drivers for Grand Prix Masters is; Nigel Mansell, Alain Prost, Emerson Fittipaldi, Rene Arnoux, Eddie Cheever, Christain Danner, Andrea de Cesaris, Emerson Fittipaldi, Stefan Johnson, Alan Jones, Jacques Laffite, Jan Lammers, Nigel Mansell, Ricardo Patrese, Alain Prost, Eliseo Salazar, Hans-Joachim Stuck, Patrick Tambay and Derek Warwick.

Each driver is provided with a car that is funded by GP Masters and managed by in-house engineers and mechanics, overseen by a central GP Masters engineering team.  Built by Delta Motorsport, the cars produce in excess of 600bhp and can reach speeds of nearly 200mph.

Sky Sports now offers over 1500 hours of motorsport a year, covering live Elite League and Grand Prix Speedway, the new A1 Grand Prix series and Indy Racing League in addition to a variety of magazine programmes.
