Grand Prix Masters World Series Signs 3-year Broadcast Deal With SBT Brazil’s 2nd biggest TV station to provide free-to-air coverage
Grand Prix Masters is today proud to announce a three-year agreement with Sistema Brasileiro de Televisão (SBT) for ‘free-to-air’ coverage of the series across Brazil. The agreement will begin with immediate effect until end 2008 with the first race being the ‘Qtel Grand Prix Masters of Qatar’, 29th April, Losail International Raceway.
Scott Poulter (CEO, Grand Prix Masters): “We are delighted to have SBT on-board and this will help take coverage of our series to a new level across Brazil. As Brazil’s second biggest national television station, SBT is widely acknowledged as innovative, creative and authoritative. Given the overwhelming national interest in Emerson Fittipaldi, SBT’s involvement will now allow every Brazilian to watch Emerson in action as he contests the Grand Prix Masters World Series alongside some of the biggest stars in grand prix racing. As one of the world’s most passionate motor sport markets, Brazil’s long-term interest and support for Grand Prix Masters is extremely valuable to us and we are looking very seriously at taking the series there in the near future.”
Emerson Fittipaldi: “This is great news for Brazil and I am really excited about it! I thoroughly enjoyed myself during the inaugural Grand Prix Masters race in South Africa last November and the hunger for more has been with me since. I cannot wait to get back behind the wheel of the car next weekend in Qatar and it means even more to me now knowing that most of Brazil will be tuned in courtesy of SBT’s free-to-air platform. If we can re- create next weekend the magic of our inaugural race, the Brazilians will fall in love with this series, I’m sure, and more so if I can beat Mansell this time round!”
