Twin race Bank Holiday Monday at Wiltshire circuit
Castle Combe hosts rounds three and four of the Porsche Club Championship this May Bank Holiday Monday (May 1st), the Wiltshire circuit traditionally providing great racing for the series and an opportunity for the front runners to add to their early-season points haul. After the opening two rounds at Snetterton on Easter weekend Richard Lambert heads the overall points table three points ahead of Mark McAleer and the Class Two runner will be aiming to stay clear at the front.
At Snetterton, it was an overall and Class One win apiece for Ian White and McAleer. Having arrived at Snetterton with 'for sale' on his car, Yeovil-based White left aiming to complete the season and the lure of his home circuit should see him bang on the pace in his 3.2 Carrera. Brake dramas denied White a good finish last year at Combe and he will be keen to make amends this season, while McAleer is aiming to stay in the title hunt as the season progresses.
In Class Two Lambert was the man on form at Snetterton with two wins and third overall in both races. In the second race he battled with 2005 Champion Tom Segrue, who was on the Combe podium last year and the dice between Lambert's 911 Carrera and Segrue's 944 S2 should be a highlight in today's double-header meeting.
It was a win each for the 911s of Chris Stewart and Chris Berry at Snetterton and they will be keen to renew their battle at Combe.
Monday's race day will be a hectic one for The Porsche Club runners, with qualifying and both races all in the one day - but it should also be the perfect opportunity for the early season pace-setters to score important championship points.
Qualifying for the Club Championship is at 8.40am, with the pair of 20-minute races at 1.00pm and 3.35pm.
