CHP Consulting, developer of the class-leading ALFA Systems solution for asset and motor finance, has renewed its sponsorship of leading British GT driver, Steve Hyde, who this year will be contesting a selection of different racing championships in a unique 500 bhp, 5.7-litre Vauxhall Monaro V8, the only racing example in the northern hemisphere.
Andrew Denton, sales and marketing director at CHP Consulting said: “Our association with top class motor sport goes back many years. There is a strong fit between the high performance capabilities of our ALFA Systems solution and leading exploits on the race track. Steve has been racing Morgan, Porsche and TVR GT cars for the past five years. This season, he has swapped his Mosler MT900R for the new challenge of a Vauxhall Monaro V8 from Australia, where CHP opened an office last year.”
Entered by Emotional Engineering, the Vauxhall Monaro V8 coupé is known as the 'Thunder from Down Under.’ Built by Vauxhall's sister company, Holden, it is one of the top GTs in the Australian supercar market. It has a proven track record including outright wins in the Nations Cup and the inaugural Bathurst 24 Hours.
Of his race debut in the opening round of the Avon Tyres British GT Championship at Oulton Park, Steve Hyde, a European asset management leader at GE Capital, commented: “The Monaro is beautifully balanced and so drivable, when the back starts to go it slides but you can control it. It's a big car but once you get out on the track you tend not to notice that. Given I had not driven the car before, a sixth in class and ninth overall was a good start to build on for the coming season.”
The events to be contested by CHP-backed Steve Hyde and his co-driver, Matt Griffin, in the Vauxhall Monaro V8 are:
May 21 - Donington Park
Jun 18 - Brands Hatch
Jul 30 - Spa-Francorchamps, Belgium (FIA 24 hours)
Aug 27 - Brands Hatch
Sep 9 - Silverstone (24 hours)
