Dealer delight for Academy ace Kevin

Kevin Davies heads north to Carlisle next weekend for the second round of the Fiesta SportingTrophy.  The 21 year old West Walian from Llanfihangel-ar-Arth has been boosted ahead of the event with the news that Aberystwyth's main Ford dealers MM Ford will be supporting Kevin for the remainder of the year.  MM Ford will be backing Kevin through the 'Dealership Challenge', an important part of the Fiesta SportingTrophy this year. The good news comes at a welcome time for the MSA Academy driver.  Davies finished 3rd on the opening round of the series, the Malcolm Wilson Rally, and was delighted by the result he and co-driver Emyr Jones achieved on the Cockermouth based event.  With support from KJ's Eden Tours, David Harries and Co, rallycarsales.net and X-Cite Motorsport Supplies, the Geoff Jones Motorsport run Ford Fiesta ST150 never missed a beat as Kevin rose steadily up the leaderboard with a fine performance.  Finishing 3rd was just reward for Kevin's efforts, and the youngster is keen to maintain his good form for May 14th.After recently attending the first of the induction days for the MSA Academy scheme, Davies feels he is already starting to learn how to prepare himself better for the challenges of rallying.  Kevin is now working on increasing his fitness levels in order to maintain peak performance when competing.  Davies was quick to acknowledge how valuable the expert advice from specialists at the University of Edinburgh was to his development:'I'm really enjoying the MSA Academy so far' said Kevin.  'I've never looked into the fitness and psychology side of the sport before, so I'm finding it very useful at the moment.  I've not really had any seat time in the Fiesta since the Malcolm Wilson Rally, but I'm hoping to have a brief test before the event if all goes to plan.  I really enjoyed driving the car on the last event, but I still feel as though I have a lot to learn in order to get the most from the car.  With the help of my sponsors and the input from Geoff Jones, I feel as though we can steadily increase our speed a bit more event by event and hopefully that will mean we keep climbing the leaderboard in the process'.Davies has never competed in the Kielder forests prior to the Pirelli Trophy Rally.  With Kielder's fierce reputation as a car 'killer', Davies will have little time to bed himself in after the frenetic pace shown by the leading drivers in the FST series so far.  Six special stages await Davies and Jones on the event, giving a total of just 43 special stage miles.  With little time to recover should something go wrong, Davies will need to use all of his limited experience and strong talent in order to achieve a solid result next Sunday.
