Tech 9 joins Carrera Cup for Oulton

Tech 9 Motorsport will join the Carrera Cup GB at Oulton Park (May 13/14) with a two-car team for Mark Cole and Phil Hindley. The championship-winning team, owned by Hindley, will contest a five-weekend Carrera Cup programme, which will run in parallel to its International GT racing campaign. Cole has agreed terms to race with the team at Oulton Park and Thruxton (June 3/4) and will continue in the pro category, while Hindley will compete in the new pro-am category.Cole contested the opening races of the season with Team RPM, but missed Mondello due to budget constraints. A date clash between the Carrera Cup and RPM's other racing programme for the Thruxton weekend prompted the change. "It will be nice to rejoin the Carrera Cup paddock, especially with a driver the calibre of Mark," says Hindley. "We raced hard but fair against each other during the 2002 season. Since then Mark has raced with us a couple of times, so it's nice to have him back. The agreement is for the next two rounds at Oulton Park and Thruxton," says Hindley."I'm very pleased to be joining Tech 9 for these two important weekends," says Cole. "The RPM car was awesome at Silverstone for the test day and really good at Brands Hatch. If the budget is confirmed, I'd like to go back to RPM and finish the season." Tech 9 will complete its five-weekend Carrera Cup programme at Croft (July 15/16) and Silverstone (October 14/15).Hindley, meanwhile, is returning to racing after tackling only occasional races over the last three seasons. "My last full season was in 2002 and since then I've just done enough races to keep my International B racing licence," explains Hindley. "I'm just looking forward to getting back in the car and having some fun. I'm coming in a bit like a guest driver and I've had very little time in the car. But they're great cars to drive."
