Oulton next for Jordans BTCC campaign
The challenging Oulton Park circuit in Cheshire is the next stop for Mike Jordan in the 2006 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship this weekend (13/14 May).Jordan's John Guest-supported Honda Integra will head to Oulton fresh from scoring a memorable debut BTCC win in front of the live TV cameras at Mondello Park last time out. After battling with the big guns when the season opened at Brands Hatch, Jordan scored a mighty win in round six in Ireland. In the opening two races, a broken anti-roll bar left the Honda struggling for pace, but with that fixed he blitzed the third race from pole position thanks to the BTCC reverse grid system.Although Jordan is cautious about predicting a repeat of that result, he is hoping to return to the BTCC podium and Oulton is one of the tracks where that is a real possibility. "I just love Oulton Park and can’t wait to race there in the BTCC," he says. "The Honda Integra has fantastic poise in the fast corners, so it should be stunning at corners like Cascades and Druids. It will be great to be tackling these really fast corners after Mondello, which is mainly all about slow corners."Although Mike has yet to drive the Integra at Oulton, he has been able to draw on the experience of Matt Neal's team from the 2005 races. "We've got some good information from Team Dynamics about set-up on the Honda for Oulton Park," says Jordan. He will put that information to use for the first time during free practice on Saturday morning. Sunday's BTCC action will have the usual excellent TV coverage. On ITV1, an extensive programme on Sunday afternoon will carry the third race of the day live along with highlights from the opening two races. Meanwhile, the Motors TV programme will carry live coverage from Oulton Park throughout Sunday.
