Mercedes-Benz’s SLR McLaren may have been showered with automotive accolades, but the car can also now boast of setting another record!
At more than £300,000, Mercedes’ latest supercar now holds the honour of being the single most valuable stolen vehicle ever to be recovered and returned to its rightful owner by TRACKER, the UK’s leading stolen vehicle specialist and the police.
The car was stolen after thieves stole its keys while parked outside an address in South Buckinghamshire. Police traced the car 50 minutes later less than 12 miles away.
The total value of stolen Mercedes recovered during March was £601,000. Again, for the seventh successive month, TRACKER recovered more BMWs than any other marque, totalling £680,000.
March proved to be a month of high-value successful recoveries for TRACKER with two Aston Martins – one formerly owned by the singer Elton John – worth a combined £145,000 as well as a unique Hummer limousine valued at £100,000.
In total, £3.16million worth of vehicles, including cars, motorbikes, caravans, vans and plant were returned to their rightful owners, taking the total sum for the year so far to more than £10million (£10,134,900).
TRACKER’s previous record for a single vehicle recovery was set in December last year when the company traced, and returned, a stolen Rolls Royce worth £270,000 to its owner after it was stolen from outside the Hilton Hotel in Park Lane, London.
