Jordan takes Rallycross Supercar podium

Andrew Jordan scored a fantastic podium finish in the second round of the Quaife MSA British Rallycross Championship at the Pembrey circuit in South Wales on Sunday (7 May).16 year-old Jordan (Sutton Coldfield) made history once again by becoming the youngest driver ever to score a podium result in a Supercar in British Rallycross.Jordan was racing the 550bhp four-wheel drive Ford Focus built and run by the G-Tech team of former rallycross champion Will Gollop and started his campaign with a win and two second places in the three heats. Both of his second places came as he ran right on the tail of pace setter Christopher Evans. Those results ensured him a place on the front row of the grid for the all-important A final for the top eight Supercars from the heats. In the final he was up against the top two drivers in the championship, Evans and former champion Dermot Carnegie. With a mature performance, Andrew ran right with Evans and Carnegie to finish third and earn his first podium finish at this level.Later, in the Superfinal for the top 10 cars from the event, he delivered the same result to chase Evans and Carnegie to the flag and finish the day with another visit to the podium. Despite being elated at the podium results, Andrew believed he could have finished even higher. "I didn’t expect to be on the podium so soon," he said. "It's a fantastic result for me and the team, but I'm also a little disappointed as we had the pace to win today," he said. The British Rallycross Championship action continues at Anglesey in North Wales on Sunday 18 June, but Andrew will be back in action next weekend (13/14 May) in the opening round of the French Citroen C2 Rally Championship.Andrew Jordan is supported by John Guest, Shell, Pirtek, Quaife Engineering and Bill Gwynne Rally School.
