Porsche Club Championship News

WHITE THE LEADER AS CLUB RACERS REACH SILVERSTONEThe Porsche Club Championship heads for Silverstone this coming weekend, May 13th and 14th, with Ian White looking to add to his tally of three wins from the four races so far this season that has given him the overall points lead. With two rounds on Silverstone’s National circuit, plenty of points are on offer as White’s rivals, both from within Class One and across the championship, look to overhaul his early advantage.White won two very different races at Combe, and also won the season-opening race at Snetterton at Easter to open a six point lead at the top of the table – a fine result from a driver who turned up at the opening round not expecting to contest the whole season. Mark McAleer is the only other driver with an outright win and currently lies 13 points behind White in Class One after a troubled first race at Castle Combe in his 968CS.Richard Lambert won Class Two in his Carrera in the first three races, but was caught up in a first lap incident at Combe in round four and had to battle back through. 2005 outright champion Tom Segrue’s 944 S2 took the class in the second race at Combe, but Lambert will be aiming to put his title charge back on track at Silverstone, lying currently six points behind White in the overall table. The Class Three battle is the tightest, Chris Berry and Chris Stewart tied on 85-points apiece going to Silverstone. Alex Eacock missed the season-opening races, but two races at Silverstone, where he is a class lap record holder, should see him add momentum to his title charge.Qualifying for the Club Championship is at 10.35 on Saturday morning, with the first 30-minute race scheduled for 13.52 that afternoon, with the second at 14.19 on Sunday.
