AT BOVINGDON RACEWAY
Spedeworth South plays host to the Superstox English Championship at Bovingdon Raceway on Sunday, May 21st at 1.30pm. The title race will be supported with a full card of racing from the Rookie Rods, Lightning Rods and the all-action National Bangers.
The Superstox are real crowed pleasers at Bovingdon, where the drivers are always keen to put the front bumper in to move the opposition out of the way. With the English title on the line and a grid full of the sport’s top drivers all keen to add the silverware to their collection those bumpers are likely to be clashing regularly around the Hertfordshire circuit.
Non-contact racing action will be provided by the Rookie Rods. The entry level, built to a budget, Rookie Rods provide extremely close racing action at Bovingdon, where large grids of evenly matched cars will be competing in Round 6 of the FGS Race Engine Challenge.
It will be back to metal bending racing when the National Bangers take to the track. The event is ‘unlimited’ allowing drivers to field the biggest and most powerful cars in their arsenal.
Rounding off what promises to be a day full on incident packed racing the Lightning Rods will be in action, in their Lowman and Jones Race Engine Challenge. The Ford Sierra-based Lightning Rods have earned a fearsome reputation around the oval circuits as their size and power makes overtaking difficult to say the least. This does not stop the drivers from firmly planting the pedal to the metal and has earned the formula the nickname ‘Frightening Rods’ as one small mistake results in some very serious damage.
With a great value for money, four formula racing programme, free parking, and a great view of all the action from high-banked spectator areas, Bovingdon (situated off B4005 Bovingdon, Nr Hemel Hempstead, Herts, on the airfield complex) will provide another action packed day of racing on Sunday May 21st.
