Crewe aims for Red Dragon top three

Bromsgrove rally driver Nathan Crewe will contest the fifth round of the BTRDA XSpec 1400 championship, the Pro-Art Signs Red Dragon Rally on Saturday 20th May. Crewe having

returned to competition duties on the North Humberside Rally after a eleven month absence has been encouraged by his pace and was surprised to be among the front runners

on the last round, finishing in third place on the Carbase Somerset Stages in April.

Crewe and his Birmingham co-driver Chris Brooks will be competing on their third event together when they start the Swansea based rally with Crewe complimentary of his

recently acquired passenger.

"Chris contested the Heart of England series last year and first sat with me on the North Humberside. He has really impressed me and shown how good he is at his job

which was a major feature in our result on the Somerset Stages."

Nathan, who is using a new MG ZR car this year, is confident his pace will increase as he contests more events throughout the season.

"The car is new and we aim to progress with it through the year. We hope to have a better engine in place at some point to give us some more power and I need to get

some more mileage through some testing to help improve my pace. The result on the Somerset was encouraging as I felt my pace was on a par to last year."

As for the Red Dragon rally, Nathan will settle for a repeat of his Somerset performance if not go one better.

"I would like to finish the Red Dragon inside the top three again and maybe push for second. It would certainly boost our confidence to get another good result, but more

importantly some consistent results for the rest of the year."

The rally starts in Swansea at 8.15 on Saturday morning with stages in the Glamorgan Forests and the Vale of Neath with service located at Walters Arena. The rally returns to Swansea after 15.00 later in the day.
