Lockie takes four wins in one weekend

Calum Lockie had one of the most remarkable weekends of his racing career when he took four wins in two cars during the Britcar meeting at Snetterton (13/14 May).Lockie's tally for the weekend, when he raced for well over four hours in total, was three pole positions and four wins, with the wins divided between the Ferrari 360 of Bo McCormick and the BMW M3 of Paul White."It was absolutely great fun and I think that's a record for me! I'd like to thank both drivers for the opportunity to share their cars," said Lockie. "Both cars ran faultlessly all weekend. It was awesome!"It was a four-day event for Lockie as he was testing on Thursday and Friday in the run up to the race weekend. The BMW M3 was having its debut race and was run by Butler Motorsport, while the Ferrari was in the capable hands of Hargreaves Motorsport and Shiltech.First qualifying was for the Production S1 race and on a wet track Lockie put the M3 on pole by 1.9s in the closing minutes of the session. Then, he hopped into the Ferrari to tackle Britcar qualifying and posted second fastest time in class and sixth overall. The opening race was the one-hour Production S1 race on Saturday afternoon. "Paul went away from pole and ran right with the leaders," said Lockie. However, it soon started to rain and the team made a perfect call to bring Paul in for wet tyres ahead of the rest of the field. Unfortunately, this was quickly followed by a safety car period, which allowed all the other teams to make their tyre changes and White ended up losing a lap. However, White then ran strongly for the rest of his stint before Lockie took over at half distance. "I rejoined in 17th, but managed to get back onto the lead lap. Then there was a late safety car period and we had one flying lap to the flag. I managed to get up behind Mike Wilds who was third and out-braked him into the Esses despite a big moment as he defended." That put the White/Lockie car first in class and third overall. At the end of the afternoon came the first Britcar race over 60 minutes. "Bo did a fantastic stint and we both did our best ever laps of Snetterton in the car. We got the balance in the car really good and it ran perfectly," said Calum after they took first in class and third overall.Sunday's races were run over three hours and the Britcar race produced another great result of first in class and third overall. Once again the Ferrari ran faultlessly. Finally, the three-hour Production S1 race netted overall victory for the White/Lockie BMW. "Paul started the race and was really battling hard, even though he got knocked around a couple of times and we lost the front splitter when he got pushed wide."Despite that handicap, they were able to cruise to the flag over the later stages of the race to wrap up an amazing weekend. "Thanks are due to Bo McCormick, Shiltech, Hargreaves Motorsport and Dunlop for fantastic tyres on the Ferrari. Thanks also to Melindi on the radio, Grand Prix Racewear, Racing Technologies for superb suspension, CG Lock and Brian James Trailers. For the BMW, Butler Motorsport did a fantastic job, thanks to Dunlop for the tyres and Paul for putting me in the car."
