The Skip Barber Racing School and Watkins Glen International have teamed up to put a number of LPGA golfers into race cars – including a timed competition – on Monday, May 22. The women are in town for the following weekend’s Corning Classic LPGA tournament.

The chief instructor for the Skip Barber school, Todd Snyder, will give the women an hour of classroom instruction beginning around 3:00, then will buckle the golfers into their 140mph R/T 2000 race cars and lead them out onto Watkins Glen’s famous 11-turn, 3.4-mile natural terrain road course.

Then, a special small track laid out in Watkins Glen’s infield will be the venue for a timed competition between the women – to see who really is the best driver. The fastest LPGA driver will then be offered a 10-day, $75,000 contract to drive for Chip Ganassi’s IRL team during the Watkins Glen Indy GP the following weekend, June 2-4.

The list of six-to-10 LPGA players attending this special racing clinic has not yet been released by the LPGA office.
