Reigning World Touring Car Champion, Andy Priaulx (BMW), has a big challenge to make it onto the podium this weekend for his home event at Brands Hatch.
Priaulx, who is leading the WTCC points, must carry a 70kg weight handicap because of his previous success – a championship feature to ensure close racing.
Race sponsors, Bet and Win, think this disadvantage makes winning in front of his home crowd a tall order for the Guernsey driver, who has odds of 5-1.
Fellow Brit, James Thompson (SEAT) is not a safe bet either at 12-1, but might be worth a flutter as Thompson will only carry a 20kg weight handicap. On top of that, the Harrogate racer twice won the British Touring Car Championship during his 11 years of competing and his knowledge of Brands Hatch must rival most of the WTCC grid.
The odds-on favourite is another former-BTCC champion, Rickard Rydell, driving a ballast-free SEAT with odds of 4-1.
And the SEATs are surely due a win, with a podium tally of three out of four races but still without their maiden 2006 victory.
The brave could look for the longer odds and consider Alain Menu. The Swiss driver scored Chevrolet’s first ever podium at the opening rounds in Monza, Italy, so at 50-1 he might be worth a punt.

Race day is Sunday May 21st and the track action will be supported by a fun fair and family entertainment. Brands Hatch is located in Kent, just 20 miles from central London, off the A20.
Tickets can be bought on the gate for £30 for the weekend.
