THE BEN HONDA KARTING CHAMPIONSHIP TESTS AUTOMOTIVE METTLE
Registration has begun for the 2006 BEN Honda Karting Championship – a unique event in which teams from every aspect of the automotive industry compete in a national endurance karting Championship throughout the summer raising money for BEN, the automotive industry and related industries charity.
Last year's highly successful event saw 80 teams take part in the Championship raising over £80,000 for BEN, the occupational benevolent fund for employees past and present (and their dependents) from the automotive industry and all associated trades.
The Championship consists of 6 regional 2-hour team endurance karting heats at venues across the UK including Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol and Glasgow followed by a high-speed Grand Final event in September. The Championship seeks to find the best karting team in the automotive industry and bookings have already been taken from many of last year's high-flying teams including Bentley and Blue Bell BMW.
Entry into the Championship costs £295 per team of 5 drivers with teams entering a regional heat of their choosing and competing for a place in the Grand Final. By raising additional sponsorship for BEN teams are able to improve their qualification time by valuable seconds, ensuring a better position on the starting grid. The top teams from each heat will qualify for the final together with the top fundraisers and a surprise celebrity team!

It was fantastic to improve awareness of BEN in addition to raising so much money to support our disadvantaged colleagues."
