rhinos GT Series

at the GP Camión de las Naciones

Yet another race weekend of the rhino’s GT Series lies ahead – the event at the Spanish Albacete will be another season highlight.

On June 3 and 4 the GT Series’ power cars will move to the south and will run at the Spanish Circuito de Albacete as a support act to the European Truck Racing Championship. During this event of the mastodons there will be fierce fight on the track, but also the activities in the paddock will make this event so attractive. It is expected that a massive crowd will witness the races here.

The season start was phenomenal – Wolfgang Kaufmann in the  Ferrari 550 Maranello of the Wieth Racing Team was the first winner having a clear start-to-finish lead on the Nürburgring. But the international competition reacted convincingly at Spa Francorchamps. On the famous Ardennen track the victories in EGT1 Class went to the Dutch father and son Buurman (Marcos LM 600) and to the Swedisch couple Behrens/Wallinder Team (Oreca Viper). However it was Robert Wallenborn in the dark Porsche GT2 who placed himself on top of the leaderboard before Kaufmann and Buurman Junior.

The wide collection of brands in the highest and most powerful division creates a lot of excitement. In Class EGT1 Porche, Ferrari, Viper, Marcos, Stealth B6, V8SuperSTAR, Corvette, and Ultima pilots fight for the trophies. Swiss driver Pierre von Mentlen will put the pressure on the competition leaders during the coming races and also the Swedes Erik Behrens and Magnus Wallinder and Dutchman Rob Knook want their fair share. Also Austrian Gottfried Grasser with Italian co-pilot Fabio Mena wants to play a role at the top.

In Class EGT2 it is Kurt Thiim in his V8STAR who needs to be beaten, next to Heinz Bert Wolters in the Porsche. Both have already been on the highest step of the podium this year. Will Dutchman Peter van der Kolk on Marcos Mantis be able to stay on top of the leaderboard or will the Swedish couple Bernard Lohr/Anders Levin be able to threaten him? And will it be the Porsche or the Ferrari pilots who will be allowed to take home the Class EGT3 champions trophy at the end of the season?
