Jenson Button, David Coulthard and the glamorous world of Formula One head to Silverstone in just under two weeks time as the world famous circuit gears up to host the 2006 FORMULA 1™ Foster’s British Grand Prix - one of the biggest events on the UK sporting calendar. On 11 June the lights will go out on the Silverstone start grid and circuit bosses have announced that, while tickets are still available in the majority of grandstands, Bronze General Access and Bronze Plus tickets have now SOLD OUT.
While the change of date for this year’s British Grand Prix – the event has been moved forward by a month to its new 11 June date – and the football World Cup have had an impact on ticket sales, Richard Phillips, Managing Director of Silverstone Circuits Limited, is confident that the late demand for tickets will result in the event being close to sell out.
Phillips commented, “The demand for tickets in recent weeks has soared – so much so that we have now sold out of Bronze and Bronze Plus tickets. A number of other grandstands are also sold out, but there are still tickets available for fans wanting to book last minute.”
Grandstands at Pits Straight A, Pits Straight B, Copse A, Abbey and Club A are also now sold out, but the message from Silverstone is loud and clear – tickets for the 2006 Foster’s British Grand Prix are still available, but fans are advised to book now to guarantee a ticket and avoid disappointment. Event hospitality, starting at £149 per person, is also still available.
Phillips continued, “We’re expecting a raceday crowd of approximately 82 - 83,000, which will be just two or three thousand short of a sell out. For 2006 we have reduced capacity for the British Grand Prix to 85,000 in order to improve the overall viewing experience for fans. During the year we have also updated all of our grandstands so fans coming to Silverstone will enjoy a fantastic weekend in a more comfortable environment.”
Tickets for the 2006 FORMULA 1™ Foster’s British Grand Prix are still available and can be booked 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, at silverstone.co.uk, or by calling the British Grand Prix Hotline on 08704 588 300
