... for Myerscough College
Myerscough College Formula Ford race team have had another successful weekend at the Donington Park circuit near Nottingham.
After a protracted test session on the Thursday before the event, the cars were prepared for the qualifying session on Saturday morning. The session was completed in extremely wet and difficult conditions and was incident packed. Simon Kinsey, lying 2nd in the Championship had 4 excursions into the gravel traps, but managed 1 flying lap to start 3 places on the grid above the Colleges protege driver Jamie Jardine, who after a sensible drive brought the car in with no problems encountered.
Race 1 was at 16.00 on Saturday afternoon, and was conducted in mixed weather, but mainly wet. Both cars made good starts and the rate of attrition was high, but mature drives saw the cars netting 2nd in class for Kinsey and 3rd for Jardine - an exceptional result taking the conditions into consideration.
The second race was at 11.00 on Sunday, and with no major problems overnight, the cars were again immaculately turned out onto the grid, Jardine this time 3 places above Kinsey. A great wet start by Jamie in the Number 46 car saw him pass 5 cars off the grid, and after work ing his way through traffic came up behind Nagaso lying 2nd in class, due to the prevailing conditions
He decided to take the points for an excellent 3rd in class.
Overall a superb result for the Myerscough Team, with 3 podium finishes, and no damage to the cars- bring on Snetterton!
