Fastest track next for Jordans campaign
The fastest track on the calendar comes next for Mike Jordan in the 2006 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship as the series heads to Thruxton in Hampshire this weekend (3/4 June).Having finished on the podium during each of the two previous BTCC weekends, Jordan knows that a hat-trick of podiums is a tough target, but Thruxton is a circuit that he relishes and the John Guest-supported Honda Integra should cope well with the high-speeds sweeps that characterise the 2.356-mile track.Having raced at Thruxton regularly through his career, Mike is looking forward to racing there in the BTCC. "I love Thruxton. I first went there in 1979 when I won a week's course at the racing school. I'll never forget James Weaver showing us how to keep it flat in an FF1600 round the back of the circuit!"Like all the BTCC teams, Team Eurotech will be paying particular attention to tyre performance at a track that is incredibly tough on slick racing tyres. "Thruxton is all about being very consistent on the tyres and the front left does a massive amount of work," says Jordan. He also believes that being a single car team will make things harder than usual in qualifying. "At Thruxton, more than anywhere else, you'll see the drivers in the two cars teams working together to tow each other around in qualifying. I haven't got a team mate to work with, so that may make it tough for us in qualifying." Nevertheless, Jordan is determined to continue the team's fantastic from of the opening weekends of the season and currently lies seventh in the overall drivers' standings.Sunday's BTCC action will have excellent TV coverage. On ITV1, an extensive programme on Sunday afternoon will carry the third race of the day live along with highlights from the opening two races. Meanwhile, the Motors TV channel will carry live coverage from Thruxton throughout Sunday.
