Scorpio Motorsport’s Will Bratt heads to Knockhill Circuit in Scotland next weekend, 17th/18th June, for the Formula Renault UK Championship’s annual visit north of the border and what will undoubtedly be the most pressurised race meeting of his career.The 18-year-old, one of four different race winners in the 2006 season, is aiming to bounce back from a disappointing outing at Thruxton last weekend when a lack of power from his engine compromised a good set-up on his Apotex Pharmaceuticals-backed car and resulted in two difficult races.But while the seventh and eighth rounds of the season are going to be Will’s focus in just over a week’s time, he also has to cope with the intensity of knowing four vitally important A-level exams await him the day after the race meeting, Monday, 19th June, at Bloxham School near Banbury.Having been offered a place to read History at the University of Oxford’s Lincoln College last year, and following a successful interview at the University in December, Will still needs to achieve at least two A-grades to secure the much coveted opportunity within Oxford’s hallowed halls.While the pressure-cooker environment of Formula Renault UK will require Will’s full concentration during the Knockhill weekend, the Adderbury teenager, who still holds the Knockhill lap record for the T-Car Championship, is confident it will not interfere in any way with his exams which are of paramount importance to him.Will, who heads to Knockhill sixth overall in the driver standings, commented: “We’re hopeful we can return to the kind of pace we showed at Oulton Park and I’m confident that’ll be the case. Last weekend at Thruxton was very frustrating, the engine just wasn’t pulling through the fastest corners and it really did cost us.“The team has been checking the engine to try and establish what the problem was but we do know it was costing us between four 10ths of a second and six 10ths of a second each lap. Clearly, we could and should have been in the top four and the biggest shame is that, aside from the engine, the car felt great all weekend.”He added: “We’re looking forward to Knockhill, I’m confident we can have a good weekend but it will be very tough as I have some incredibly important A-levels exams the day after the races. We’ll need to travel back home straight away as I have four separate exams on the same day. It’ll be challenging but I’m confident everything will go well.”Official testing will take place at Knockhill on Friday, 16th June, with qualifying for rounds seven and eight expected to commence at 11.55 and 15.30 respectively on Saturday, 17th June. Both races will be held on Sunday, 18th June, with round seven set to get underway at 12.30 and round eight starting at 15.20.
