Tough day for British racers in Supercup

It was a tough day at Silverstone for the four Carrera Cup GB guest racers contesting the Porsche Michelin Supercup race at the British Grand Prix meeting at Silverstone today (Sunday 11 June).Danny Watts (Red Line Racing) was the best of the four in qualifying and started from ninth on the grid. However, his race was spoilt by a pit stop for a tyre change after a locked brake left him with a flat-spotted tyre. From 21st on the grid, Richard Williams had a strong race for IN2RACING and finished 15th, battling with the two cars ahead of him. As Williams chased Philip Beyrer and Sebastiaan Bleekemolen over the line, he was just over a second away from 13th place. "I was reeling them in at the flag," he said."The race went really well and I really enjoyed it," said Williams. "It was a fantastic experience and to race in front of so many people was amazing! It's just proves what a huge step it is into Supercup. The standard of professionalism is so high and we've learnt an awful lot this weekend." His IN2RACING team mate Mike Richards took the flag in 20th place, while Jason Young (Red Line Racing) had a short-lived Supercup debut when he was tipped into a first corner spin. "I got a cracking start, but then I got turned round and the engine wouldn't restart," said Young.
