The Dutch Supercar Challenge roars into the UK next weekend with the series’ leading British driver Rick Pearson (Canterbury) chasing his first class win following a strong performance last time out at Zolder.
Campaigning Laurent Aiello’s former BTCC Championship-winning Nissan Primera, Pearson and his Pro Motorsport team started race one second in class and seventh overall before being forced out in the opening lap chaos.
Race two was a different tale however with Pearson showing a deft turn of speed to rocket from the back of the 44-car grid to fourth overall.
“Although we’re new to the championship, we’ve been consistently on the pace all season,” said Pearson. “Considering we had to cancel our entire pre-season testing programme due to snow, we’ve made significant leaps forward each time we’ve raced.”
Sharing the workload with fellow Briton Derek Palmer Jnr, Pearson is gunning for the SS class honours on home turf.
Pearson said: "Brands is a great venue and I know everyone is very keen to show what they can do on one of the most awe-inspiring and challenging tracks in the world. I won my first race at Brands so it's a circuit I know well and being British, we want to put on a great show for the home crowd.
“Our pace this season has been clear to see with most of our competitors unable to match our lap times in qualifying or race trim. Make no mistake, we want to be first past the flag on race day."
