White to race Carrera Cup VIP car

Porsche Club Championship racer Ian White will step up to the Porsche Carrera Cup GB at Croft on 15/16 July when he races the Vertu-backed VIP car at the challenging North Yorkshire track.White's race weekend in the Carrera Cup GB comes as a reward for his success in the 2005 Porsche Club Championship and is part of the support given to the Porsche Club GB's motorsport programme by Porsche Cars GB.In 2005, White raced his 3.2 Carrera to the most race wins and the class one title. Meanwhile, in 2006 he has won five of the first six races and has also campaigned a 993RSR in the Porsche Open series."I can’t wait to get out on a level playing field and see where I'm at," says the Bournemouth-based racer. "I seem to adapt to new cars pretty quickly and this is such a fantastic opportunity. I always set my sights very high, and I'd love to be on the podium. But I think that will be very difficult and I'll be up against people who have had a lot of time in these cars."White will be particularly keen to measure himself against his major 2005 rival Andy Purdie, who graduated to the Carrera Cup at the start of this season and won the pro-am category during the most recent round at Thruxton."I'd like to thank Porsche Cars GB for making this possible," says White, who is considering racing in the Carrera Cup GB in 2007. "I'd absolutely love to do the Carrera Cup next year! Before I even started racing my ambition was to race at this level."White will drive the 911GT3 Cup car for the first time during the official Carrera Cup test session at Croft on Thursday (13 July).
